230+ Domain Name Ideas for Your New Websites and Blogs

Choosing the domain name is an important step in the early stages of any type of website or blog, but it can be a big challenge with so many domains already registered. Personally, I really struggle to come up with possible domain names for my sites, and I know I am not alone.

One of my go-to resources over the past several years has been this list of domain name prefixes and suffixes compiled by Daniel Scocco. I’ve used this list to brainstorm possibilities for many different sites and over the years I have added many other words to create my own list that I also use. Daniel’s list was published almost 9 years ago, and so I decided to publish my own list of domain name suffixes and prefixes in this post. There is some overlap between my list and Daniel’s but there are also a lot of differences. So if you don’t find what you need from my list, be sure to try Daniel’s as well.

My typical process for brainstorming domain names is to start with a few few primary keywords and then see what other words I could use in combination with any one of those keywords. For example, when I was starting ProfitBlitz I picked a few main keywords like “profit”, “marketing”, “internet marketing”, and “income”. Then I browsed through this list to see what words might pair well with one of my main keywords. In the end I wound up with ProfitBlitz. Since I tend to have a hard time with domain names this is an easy process, and it’s what I do with just about every site that I launch.

So when you are struggling to come up with a good domain name that isn’t already registered, start with a keyword for your topic and try it with the complimentary words in this list. You’re sure to find at least a few options, even in the most saturated niches. In total you’ll find more than 230 words on this list. And if you want to get even more ideas just enter some of these words into Thesaurus.com and you’ll get even more synonyms.
